Elle se planifie en ao\u00fbt 1956 et les premiers pr\u00e9paratifs se feront sur l\u2019\u00eele de Chypre. (Une force navale d\u2019intervention sera mise en \u0153uvre. La force terrestre en pr\u00e9-alerte est forte de 60&nbsp;000&nbsp;hommes, mais seulement <a href=\"https:\/\/anciens2rpima.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Suez-3-novembre-1956-LCL-Chateau-Jobert-2e-RPC-e1763717685903.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">15&nbsp;000 seront employ\u00e9s<\/a>. Les Fran\u00e7ais sont install\u00e9s sur le Camp X dans la plaine de Nicosie \u00e0 Chypre, ils seront command\u00e9s par le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andr%C3%A9_Beaufre\">Andr\u00e9 Beaufre<\/a>, ils formeront la \u00ab <strong>Force A<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb).        *<em>Le canal de Suez \u00e9tait propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de soci\u00e9t\u00e9s franco britanniques.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est ainsi que plus de 150&nbsp;navires de guerre sont mobilis\u00e9s par les coalis\u00e9s, une centaine de b\u00e2timents r\u00e9quisitionn\u00e9s pour le soutien, appuy\u00e9s par plus de 500&nbsp;avions de combat, sans parler des avions de transport et des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res\u2026 Il s\u2019agit de la plus grande op\u00e9ration militaire d\u00e9clench\u00e9e dans la zone depuis 1945, qui restera sans \u00e9quivalent jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la guerre du Golfe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;op\u00e9ration se d\u00e9roulera en 3 phases : bombardements, intervention a\u00e9roport\u00e9e et d\u00e9barquement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Nom de code : <strong>AMILCAR<\/strong> pour les fran\u00e7ais, et HAMILCAR pour les britanniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le commandement de l\u2019op\u00e9ration est britannique, les fran\u00e7ais ne conservant que le commandement de leurs unit\u00e9s, sans pouvoir de d\u00e9cision. Le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Keightley#Post-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Keightley<\/a>, second\u00e9 par l\u2019amiral&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pierre_Barjot\">Pierre Barjot<\/a>, en est le commandant en chef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s la phase bombardements, l&#8217;embarquement s&rsquo;effectuera sur la Base A\u00e9rienne 792 de Tymbou \u00e0 Chypre le&nbsp;<strong>5 novembre 1956<\/strong>,&nbsp;au matin le \u00ab\u00a0Top\u00a0\u00bb est donn\u00e9, le <a href=\"https:\/\/anciens2rpima.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1956-CHATEAU-JOBERT-juste-avant-le-saut-a-PORT-SAID-1.1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>2<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;RPC<\/strong> saute en deux vagues \u00e0&nbsp;Port-Sa\u00efd<\/a> puis Port Fouad un peu plus tard, appuy\u00e9 par des commandos de la 5e CIE du <a href=\"https:\/\/anciens2rpima.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/11e-DBPC-1956.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" title=\"11 DBPC\">11e&nbsp;demi-brigade parachutiste de choc<\/a>, pr\u00e8s de la ligne de chemin de fer bordant le canal au sud de Port-Sa\u00efd, il est envoy\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;a\u00e9rodrome Al-Gamil, avec le 3e BRP britannique, il prend le contr\u00f4le de la zone et \u00e9tablit un point s\u00e9curis\u00e9 afin d&rsquo;assurer l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e des renforts a\u00e9riens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 6 novembre au matin, les forces de d\u00e9barquement ouvrent le feu sur les positions \u00e9gyptiennes, ainsi la France alignera \u00e9galement le&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1er_r%C3%A9giment_%C3%A9tranger_de_parachutistes\">1<sup>er<\/sup>&nbsp;REP<\/a>, trois&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Commandos_de_marine\">commandos de marine<\/a>, deux escadrons de chars&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AMX-13\">AMX-13<\/a> du REC, un escadron de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Char_M47_Patton\">chars M47 Patton<\/a>&nbsp;et trois sections de la&nbsp;60<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;compagnie du g\u00e9nie a\u00e9roport\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette op\u00e9ration s&rsquo;ach\u00e8vera en victoire militaire des forces coalis\u00e9es, cependant elle prendra fin le&nbsp;7 novembre&nbsp;\u00e0 la suite des menaces sovi\u00e9tiques et semonces am\u00e9ricaines. Par la suite l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e G\u00e9n\u00e9rale des Nations Unies adopteront des r\u00e9solutions pr\u00e9voyant l\u2019intervention d\u2019une Force d\u2019Urgence des Nations Unies, la (FUNU), cette force arrive le 21 novembre, compos\u00e9 de norv\u00e9giens c\u00f4t\u00e9 Port-Sa\u00efd et des colombiens \u00e0 Port-Fouad le 5 d\u00e9cembre afin de restaurer la paix&nbsp;: les Casques Bleus \u00e9taient n\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au nom de code \u00ab\u00a0Homard\u00a0\u00bb, l&rsquo;\u00e9vacuation des forces est effective le 22 d\u00e9cembre 1956. Le 01 f\u00e9vrier 1957 est officiellement dissoute la \u00ab <strong>Force A<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Le 2e RPC d\u00e9plorera 8 morts et 39 bless\u00e9s dans ses rangs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">&#8211; le r\u00e9giment sera cit\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;ordre de l&rsquo;Arm\u00e9e &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><mark style=\"background-color:#fcb900\" class=\"has-inline-color\">-Croix de Guerre des Th\u00e9atres d&rsquo;Op\u00e9rations Ext\u00e9rieurs avec
